New Delhi Traffic

Note the cars with dents, no side mirrors and I especially love the way the rickshaw merges near the end of the video.

Photos of Delhi

These photos pretty much sum up New Delhi. We were in a Rickshaw in bumper to bumper traffic, literally. I love the new old cars. The government cars are bullet proof, apparently. I love the warning on the back of the car about the power brakes. The ambassador cars have a modern interiors with a 1800cc motor. There was a little old lady sitting the back of the white car. The scene was something out of another time period.

Journey update

Where to begin? We commenced another cycle at the end of March 2010. We received the initial pregnancy results, positive, and then the wait began. In late April we received scans from the Dr. When we later spoke to the Dr she advised us that the surrogate mother had some slight spotting and had been confined to bed rest. About 4 weeks later we received a new scan and advice from the Dr that there was no heartbeat. We were rather shocked by this news and decided to review our plans.

We decided to give it another try and see if our luck would change this time around. Within about a week the Dr had everything in hand and was already preparing the donor and the surrogate mothers. Yes, we decided that given the overall success rate of any of the surrogacy programs, we might as well go for broke and give ourselves two chances with 2 surrogate mothers rather than one. This time around we got a amazing results from the egg donor that the Dr selected for us. We have got enough fertilised eggs for another go with two surrogate mothers if required.

We received news from the Dr on 28 June that both surrogate mothers were pregnant, potentially with multiples. Oh my god. What were we to do if this was the case. 1 is great, 2 are company for each other, 3 are an interesting challenge. 4 are life changing. New car, house renovations. 5, I think that I need a valium.

The maximum that we could end up with is 4, 2 per surrogate mother, however it appears as if we may only end up with 2 or 3, that is there are no complications along the way. I can only hope that the pregnancies all go to full term and will remain optimistic about the pregnancy over the remaining 32 weeks. I am told however that if there are twins they will be delivered at 36 weeks so that only means 24 to go.

It is really great to hear that Megan, Bob and Toby are finally on the way home. Bob has updated google maps with comments on some of the most important places in New Delhi, the bottle shops. You can read their blog at www.amaniandbobsurrogacy.blogspot.com. There are some links on this website that are well worth the read.

George, if you read this, Elektra and Eros are beautiful. All the best with rest of your stay and your trip home.

Sam, Phil and Ben, our hearts go out to you. You are in our thoughts and prayers and we wish you all the best.

That's it for now. Will write again when we have our next update over the coming days.
